ABOUT MOUNT BEAUTY

 

 Alpenhorn is a large, white, two storey, Chalet style building behind 6 large pine trees (and Alwyn (the 3 metre high Alpenhorn Man) - carved from the 7th pine tree) on the left as you drive towards Mount Beauty
We are situated 150 metres past the 60 Km per hour sign on the left
Access to our car park is via Heberles Rd - take the 1st left after passing Alpenhorn
Alpenhorn is approximately 1.8kms north of the Mount Beauty Post Office

Driving From Melbourne
After leaving the Hume Highway, approximately 10 kms past the duelling McDonald Restaurants at Glenrowan, travel along the Great Alpine Road (B500) until you reach Myrtleford. You will need to join the Kiewa Valley Highway by either
1) Turning off 5 kms past Myrtleford - Happy Valley turnoff
or
2) Turning off 5 kms past Bright - Tawonga Gap turnoff

Both routes take approximately the same amount of time to reach Alpenhorn. The Tawonga Gap route is very windy but does reward you with a fantastic view of the Upper Kiewa Valley and the Mount Beauty township (from Sullivan's Lookout). The lookouts are a great place for a break before making the last 10 mins of your trip down into the Valley.

In both cases turn right when you reach the T intersection with the Kiewa Valley Highway and proceed to Tawonga South.

Alpenhorn is situated in Tawonga South. As you travel through Tawonga South you are in an 80 Km per hour zone for the first 1.5Kms then you pass into the 60 Km per hour zone.  We are situated 150 metres past the 60 Km per hour sign on the left.

Driving From Sydney:
If traveling from NSW we are situated 1 hour south east of Albury/Wodonga along the Kiewa Valley Highway.
As you travel on the Albury/Wodonga by-pass take the Tallangatta turnoff and then follow the signs to Mount Beauty. Alpenhorn is situated in Tawonga South, just before Mount Beauty on the Kiewa Valley Highway.
